On June 3, 1990, Bishop Donald L. Smith began Pastoring Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Through his tenure and under his leadership Greater Mount Calvary has seen tremendous growth.

Pastor A. Johnson graduated from John Muir High School in 1979 and after attending Pasadena City College for one year, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy in 1980. He was in the service for 12-years

Today, Greater Mount Calvary Christian Church is 123 years old and we are proud to say that truly God is blessing through Bishop Donald L. Smith, the visionary of today.

Bishop Smith has definitely been called by God and empowered to exclaim and proclaim the whole truth and nothing but the truth-The Word of God. He has definitely been given spiritual insight and keys to unlocking the greater things of God for today's Christians.

Pastor Johnson met and married the former Elizabeth Beatrice Byrd of Blountstown, Florida. He is the father of two children, LaToya Shantell and Ra’Shawn Durell.

Pastor Johnson ended his naval career in 1992 and moved from Chesapeake, VA to Manassas, VA. He and his family joined Greater Mount Calvary Christian Church in November 1992. Pastor Johnson was ordained as a deacon in May 1995 and accepted his call into the Gospel Ministry in July 1996. He received his Certificate of License in May 1997 by Greater Mount Calvary Christian Church under Bishop Donald L. Smith.

In January 2002, Pastor Johnson was ordained by Bishop Smith as an Elder under Greater Mount Calvary Christian Church as well as The Whole Truth Ministries. Elder Johnson graduated from Richmond Virginia Seminary with a Bachelor in Theological Studies and is currently pursuing his Masters.

In November 2002, Bishop Donald L. Smith appointed Elder Johnson to Assistant Pastor of Greater Mount Calvary Christian Church. And, on August 3, 2003, he was installed as Assistant Pastor/Overseer of the Greater Mount Calvary Outreach Center in Catharpin, VA.
